Event Manthan, 2016 was an imitation of Model United nations where contestants in a team of two represented themselves as delegates of a country assigned to them.
English was the official language of Manthan, 2016 and the topic of discussion was Climate Change .
There were 2 rounds in the event:
1. In the first round the delegates presented the proposal of their assigned countries. The proposal consisted of the policies adopted by the nation and also the effect of climate change on their country.
2. Second round was a debate where all the countries questioned the others nation’s claim and simultaneously defended themselves. Each team was allowed to question twice in this round.
Dress code was strictly formal during the entire event which meant suit and tie for men and dresses/ skirts/ pants for women.
The event started at 6:00 pm in the E1 classroom at the main IMNU building and gets over by 9:00 pm in the evening.
Round 1 was no elimination round, however teams were assigned marks on the basis of their proposals presented by them and these marks were added up with the finals marks in the 2nd round. The team with the highest marks were declared the winners.

Thapar is known for his Entrepreneurial nature, he had intitated the idea of internships, entrepreneurship development and industrial visits in the Rotaract with the initiative know as World Rotaract + along with other districts of the world, for which he was appointed as the Founder President, he was also the District Rotaract Representative of Rotary International District 3051 for the year 2014 - 2015
He was a core team member of the Gujarat Chambers of Commerce India, Youth Wing. Along with Parivaran Mitra [NGO].
Thapar was a national player for chess, he had represented Punjab. Was a part of theatre group at Natarani, Darpan
